Today’s chosen destination is Warrington. This lovely area located in Lancashire is full of beautiful countryside, picture postcard villages and towns.

Many would expect the attractions in the area to be catered for the older generation but, you will be surprised at how many activities there is on offer for children and families.

Gullivers World

Gulliver’s World is one of those destinations that cater for families with children. The theme park is located a few miles north of Warrington itself.

Created in amongst magical parkland that is surrounded by a beautiful lake, the attractions at Gulliver’s world are mainly aimed at 2 – 13 year olds with log flumes, ghost houses, clown schools, fun train tracks and much much more to keep them entertained.

Runorn Ski Centre

If you are into winter sports then the Runcorn Ski Centre will get your mouth watering. Activities at the centre include snowboarding and skiing (stating the obvious I know).

The centre boasts a huge 90 meter slope for seasoned skiers while there is a 35 meter nursery slope for newbie’s and the faint hearted.

Runcorn Ski Centre is open daily with available equipment for hire and floodlit slopes for dark nights.

There are many types of hotels in Warrington ranging from budget hotels to luxury 5 star retreats.

Other accommodation like bed and breakfasts can easily be found through local tourist site’s and centres.

WOW at the ICEHOTEL

With winter just around the corner you can feel the nip in the air already. Most of us will feel depressed and wishing the summer had lasted longer – or they had a holiday booked for somewhere warm.

It started back in 1996 when artists from around the globe started turning up Jukkasjarvi, Lapland, Sweden to help build the ICEHOTEL. Since the news started to spread around there has been over five hundred artists (sculptures in my eyes) giving a helping hand designing, sculpting and even staying in the ICEHOTEL.

Every year just seems to get more popular and this year will be no different to the past and with 60,000 visitors expected again and it is being tipped as being the most successful year to date. I know it’s not most people’s idea of a luxury holiday but with its uniqueness and limited availability for people to visit ICEHOTEL – I think it deserves to be up there with the best.

The hidden gem of North West England has to be the city of Chester. The City was established by the Romans more than two thousand years ago. Believe it or not, this ancient old city was called Deva for hundreds of years. The name was established after the Romans embarked up the river Dee.

Alton Towers in Cheshire

Nowadays Chester and the surrounding countryside area are the perfect getaway destination among countryside loving Brits and is often regarded as the gateway to North Wales and the lovely countryside it’s blessed with.  Tourists and weekend drivers also love the stunning scenery on offer when traveling around the city countryside that leads you through Cheshire and Wirrel.

Chester City is surrounded by midlevel walls built by the Romans in bygone times. These are now popular walkways around the city and stretch for more than two miles, only interrupted by the huge ancient gates, imposing stone arches and stunning historic towers.

As ancient as this area might be – it has still got a cosmopolitan feel to it with all the stunning Chester Hotels, Restaurants, Pubs and Clubs. Other modern day attractions in the area include Alton Towers, if you have not heard of Alton Towers, you are not from the United Kingdom. Cardiff, the capital of Wales is enjoying a renassaisance of sorts thanks to the development of its bay area. Here you will find around 20 quality restaurants all competing for you hard earned cash. The entire development has a website of its own where you can browse whats on offer. The general consensus from the top 10 website seem to suggest that Woods Brasserie and Garcon are the best places to eat.

Yesterday the stunning Megan Fox was spotted at Heathrow Airport by Heathrow hotel guests and customers at the airport. She has been spotted all over world of late and this week it was London’s turn. It was unsure if Megan Fox was on movie business or vacation. The Transformer’s actress was dressed comfortably and looked relaxed whistled in the airport.

The movie has so far been a huge hit in the UK and cinemas are still seeing a large numbers of customers going through their gates.

Brighton might not be regarded as being a luxury holiday destination these days but with more and more holiday makers staying at home this year due to the global slump in the economy we thought it would be worth a mention as it will be one of the top tourist destinations among Brits this year.  During the past three or four decades the number of visitors to Brighton has been in decline due to the cheap and affordable price of flying abroad to hotter climates but as mentioned above the Tide is turning in Brighton’s favour.
